HEY THERE!!! I AM A….
Retired preschool teacher👩🏼💼avid napper😴💤 reuser/recycler ♻️ expert thrifter👗👖 grandmother of 8 👵🏼 maker of stuff🪡🧵planet saver 🌎 karaoke queen 🎤 dance diva 💃
…in no particular order.
My husband and I have 6 children and 8 grandchildren in our big beautiful blended family! We all sing, play different instruments, draw, paint, and create really cool stuff! We’ve kinda got a Von Trapp/Brady Bunch vibe going on. The VonBrady Trapps! I have taught college and elementary students, but most of my career was spent teaching the very youngest of learners - Preschoolers! Over the years I have taught so many little friends how to share and take turns, respect their parents and other adults, how to listen, when to listen and when to speak up for what they need, how to stay safe in this crazyass world, how to flush and wash hands, wipe their nose, blow their nose, ways to be kind, to see the other person’s side, how to understand and tolerate differences, have self control, anger management, calming techniques. I’ve taught them how to be a friend and what that looks like. I’ve helped them foster positive feelings towards themselves and their bodies, and taught them how to be patient and wait, how to help others, and that it’s ok to cry, but NOT throw a tantrum. Together we learned the ABCs, how to count, early math and reading readiness skills. We learned about using scissors, coloring inside the lines, coloring OUTside the lines, and finishing what you start. I have been smacked, punched, kicked, bitten, farted on, peed on, puked on, spit on, licked, hugged, kissed, and loved on like no other! I supported their social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development and, at minimum, gave them a great foundation on which to develop and grow into a good human being, all while loving each precious one. It was my life’s work and I miss it terribly.
I was bored and felt very un-needed and without purpose the first few months after retirement. Then I thought, “Hey, why not turn what I love to do in my spare time, going thrifting, into a fun side hussle, and encourage others to help save the planet by also thrifting, and you’re reading this so that means you are already considering buying second hand. (Whether you buy your treasures in physical stores, or online ones, preferably shop with a small business!) It’s a win-win!” And Voila! PEnNY ViNTaGE was born! We’re all in this second hand scene together. Let’s remember to support each other in our thrifting/save the planet journey. It is SO worth it.
And with that I say…
Thank you for actively chosing to: 1.shop small, 2.shop second hand, & 3.shop me & my store -
